Learner ProfileTwice -exceptional students are academically gifted but also have disabilities that need specialized education. This population of students traditionally do not receive the unique support they need because they will either qualify as disabled or gifted, but not both. To further complicate things, their giftedness can mask their disabilities and vice versa. Beyond external stigma, 2e students often contend with low self-esteem and frustration regarding their abilities, resulting in academic underperformance and behavioral issues. These students should not have to choose between an advanced program and special education classes with less challenging courses. It is with this in mind, that our student programming is designed for 2e learners. |
